Five Boy Scouts and three adults, from Chaska Boy Scout Troop 303, sailed away in August for an adventure on a 40-foot sailing yacht off the Florida Keys.
The yacht “Endeavour” became their home for a week. During that time the boys, ages 14 and older, learned sailing navigation including raising the sails, taking the helm, throwing some line and watching the anchor, according to a press release.
"Great teamwork was displayed and it was a successful sailing trip for the crew, the release stated.
The crew also went fishing, prepared meals in the galley and spent time snorkeling around an abandoned ship, a lighthouse as well as a coral reef.
This Boy Scout high adventure trip was organized through the Boy Scouts of America National High Adventure Sea Base in Islamorada, Fla.
